Ribbon Candy

Those brightly colored, little twists of sugar appear every year around the holidays as if by magic. Part decoration and part sweet treat, it just doesn’t seem like Christmas without them.

These socks are inspired by that fun holiday confection. The sock is worked toe-up with contrast toe, heels, and cuff. The leg is worked in a wide faux cable worked only with increases and decreases. No cable needle required. You are sure to love this relaxing holiday knit.

Skills Required
Basic stitches, yarn over increases, knit decreases, German short rows (instructions and photo tutorial link included), toe-up provisional cast-on (Turkish cast-on instructions included). Charts are provided but written instructions for the charts are included. This is a great pattern to use for learning to read a chart.

Faux cable sock in holiday colors of red, green, and white.

Yarn
As shown, the sock requires ~100g of main color yarn and two 20g mini-skeins in contrasting/coordinating color for the toe, heel, and cuff. The contrast color is optional. The yarn used in the pattern is from Trunk Full of Color. The wonderful dyer, Shane, has kits available that you can find here. You can buy the kit with or without the pattern.

Gauge
To make sure you get the best fit and a long-wearing sock, take the time to check your gauge. The toe makes a great gauge swatch.
