For all of my kids faults (and they are too much like their mother not to have plenty of them), there is one area were they really excel – the appreciation of hand knits. My kids are my biggest knitting cheerleaders. I love to show my knitting to them because they always ooh and aah in all the appropriate ways.
Yesterday I finished another pair of socks – the pair my oldest nicknamed Hedwig’s Lace. Oldest squealed with delight at the pretty little lacy socks. She proclaimed them of suitable quality to give to Gran (my mom) for Christmas. This is one of the highest knitting honors one can achieve. So I was asking her later if Gran would like them more or is she would. You could see the wheels turning in the brain. She really wanted the socks but she also didn’t want to take things away from Gran. We finally decided together that Gran really doesn’t wear socks much so daughters would probably like them best.
The pattern is Quill Lace from Knitty. The yarn Panda Cotton Ivory. This is very soft yarn that has a very nice sheen but it tends to be a bit splitty. The photography leaves a lot to be desired. Think the socks could have benefited from wet blocking instead of just shoving a foot inside. And the model was doing weird things with her feet because she thought she was going to fall off the chair I cruelly made her stand on.
You’re right, the socks are just right with the little change you made. Very nice!!
