It’s a Girl!!

From Tabitha Knits…

The baby for whom I have been knitting so diligently was born on February 9th – a girl named Kate Elizabeth.
Since every girl needs a little bit of lace, I have knitted her a chevron lace baby sock to go with her baby ensemble. It is a pretty baby pink with the chevron lace pattern running down the side and the front of the sock. Isn’t it adorable???
BTW the second sock is OTN and should be completed some time today. The photo is a bit fuzzy but I will post a better one when I have the set complete.

Photos to share

I have several completed projects with photos to share.

From Tabitha Knits…

First is the February KAL dishcloths. I modified the pattern slightly because I wanted a smaller cloth than the pattern was going to make.

Next is the blanket to match the baby hat and socks that I made earlier. The inspiration for the blanket came from a photo in the book Stitch and Bitch. I saw the photo but I never read the pattern. I have no idea how what I stitched compares to the pattern, I just remember liking the look of the giant blocks so I alternated panels of garter and stockinette stitch. My apologies to SNB if I copied their pattern without realizing it. Here is a photo of the whole set.

And last but not least is a photo of a baby washcloth my dd made to go with the baby set for my new niece. She has been nagging me to post a photo of it too. She is still learning but is very proud of her second completed project. She is currently knitting a scarf and a headband (both garter stitch)

Cabled Fingerless Gloves

From Tabitha Knits…

Here are a pair of fingerless gloves I just completed – this makes 16 FOs for 2007. The construction is very “sock-like” and I love the clever way of adding the thumb. I like the look and feel of a real thumb much better than a thumb slit. Took a bit of frogging (especially since I saw fit to make two right hand gloves instead of the more traditional right and left gloves). My model has smaller hands than I do so they fit me much better and consequently look better on me. But I never managed to get the nack of wearing the gloves and operating the camera with my teeth, nose and eyebrows. This was my first attempt at cables as well as my first attempt at thumbs. I am pleased with both. Again forgive the flash glare on the sheen in the yarn. They really are prettier in person.
I am planning to repeat the pattern in a wool – as soon as I decide on the color. Any suggestions???
