Father & son socks

My ds wanted a pair of house socks to match his dad’s. Here they are – ready to add to the FO list for March!! He has worn them non-stop since I finished them – which is surprising since today’s high was 85. They’re knitted with cheap acrylic but at the rate he grows they won’t fit him at the end of the week so why waste the good stuff!

This is a photo of father and son modeling their house socks together. Father is the one with hairy legs.

Royal Purple Monkeys

These are for me and only me!! Monkeys in glorious royal purple fit for a queen. This is a really fun pattern to knit. Challenging enough to be fun but not so difficult to be discouraging – especially for a novice sock knitter like me.I was intending to only knit one in this pattern but it was so much fun I ended up doing two. I got them finished just in time to wear them to worship services tomorrow. With strappy black sandals I think. And no one will even know if I shaved my legs. The color is not very good as I had to take this shot indoors with a flash. To see the true beauty of the yarn scan down to the post “Getting There”

Here is the yarn for my next socks. Gargeous, ain’t it?! I got this from Kerry and I think I am in love with this yarn. It is SO soft and shiny and beautiful. I have it all wound into a ball and waiting impatiently for Monkey’s completion. I just have to decide which pattern to knit from this incredible yarn. What do you think – should I do

Dishcloth Frenzy

Here are my latest dishcloths. These are some patterns that will be available from Knit A Little some time next week. These are very fast and easy to knit patterns and the garter background really makes the letter stand out. I give them an A+. The M photo had to be taken indoors so the photo is not as good. My apologies.

Getting There

From Tabitha Knits…

Knitting has been going slowly this month. For some reason my family has expected me to cook, clean house and do laundry. Go figure. But my socks are almost ready to wear. They should make their first public appearance this weekend. I really like this pattern. It is a fun knit.

Is Knitting a Distraction?

I was involved in an unusual situation this weekend involving another person’s reaction to my public knitting. I found the reaction of the person rather curious and quite unexpected and wondered if other knitters had run into similar situations.

I am conducting an unscientific poll among knitters in an attempt to answer some of the questions that arose as a result of this encounter. I would appreciate the help of fellow knitters by asking you to answer five brief questions in the comments for this post. The results of this poll might later be used in a future article that I will write and post on my website Tabitha’s Heart and Hands. No names, blogs addresses, email addresses or any other personally identifying information will be used in the article – only general results of the poll. Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Knitting In Public Poll

1. In general, what do you find is the reaction of others to your public knitting?
2. Have you ever knit at a lecture, speech, class, debate or other similar event that was not related to knitting? Why or why not?
3. Do you find knitting at one of these events (a)distracts you from what the speaker is saying, (b)helps you to pay better attention to what the speaker is saying or (c)doesn’t effect your concentration on the speaker?
4. Did your knitting distract the speaker in any way? If so, please explain the circumstances?
5. Did your knitting distract the people around you from what the speaker was saying? If so, in what way?
