Camping – More adventures in holidays

Last week was my hubby’s birthday and our anniversary. My hubby wanted to take a camping trip to celebrate the occasions. Naturally, nothing went as planned (for details see this post). I did learn a great deal about camping with kids (and husbands) though. For instance, did you know that:

  1. Tent manufacturers grossly overestimate the number of people who can sleep in a particular tent.
  2. Air mattresses make rather rude sounds when you roll over on them inside a sleeping bag.
  3. Rude sounds are highly entertaining to children.
  4. The laughter of children is infectious making it impossible for parents to maintain any sort of dignity or respectability.
  5. When enough rude sounds made by air mattresses occur simultaneously, it makes the dog bark. This situation causes the entire family to dissolve into laughter again.
  6. Little boys and flashlights are the ingredients for a sleepless night.
  7. Little boys, tents and sleeping bags are also ingredients for a sleepless night.
  8. The last two scenarios do not mix well with exhausted parents.
  9. Food tastes better when cooked outdoors amid swarms of bugs and open flames. Perhaps, it is the danger of preparation that makes it more appetizing.
  10. Camping will either bring a family closer together or to the brink of murder. Sometimes, it is difficult to know which.
  11. The value of knitting for surviving camping trips cannot be underestimated.

I have several projects OTN, including a new design, but no photos yet. Hopefully, next post. I will also have at least one, but hopefully two, book reviews. It all depends on whether the post office decides to deliver in a timely manner.

I’ve never been camping with my kids! Your Top 10 made me laugh, though! I’ll have to share it with my kids!

We’ve shared hotel rooms with a snoring dad/husband, though. It’s not recommended! Fortunately, when we are on vacation, we’re so busy during the day, that we all manage to sleep through it.

It made me laugh to think of the rude noises and everyone laughing, though!

At least you didn’t wake up with frost on your sleeping bag. Been there, done that. Oh the joy of Cub Scouts.
