Mother’s Day is always an adventure when you have young children. My children get as excited about Mother’s Day as they do about Christmas. Preteena was up before the sun trying to make sure I had a happy day. Perhaps I shouldn’t mention that Mom would have truly enjoyed being allowed to sleep late. The day was filled with treasure hunts, hand made cards, and an assortment of surprises and love.
SmallFry even lost his second tooth in honor of Mother’s Day. He swallowed the tooth, much to his distress, but he is a cute snaggle-tooth and now he whistles while he talks. To his great joy, he discovered the tooth fairy does visit those who swallow their teeth. Believe it or not, I did manage a bit of knitting time in all the hub-bub.
Here is the photo of the other Mother’s Day bath set of which I promised to post photos.
Here is another pair of washcloths from the same pattern. These will finish out the gifts for my mom and mother-in-law.
Let it be noted for the record that these were not finished yesterday. I just didn’t get around to photographing them until then.
Here is what I worked on yesterday. A black version of Earl Grey socks from Yarn Harlot. I am not sure that I am liking my results of this pattern combined with this yarn but I will be patient until I finish the first cable repeat. I am pretty sure this will be the last black yarn I knit. It is murder on the eyes and apparently on my camera lens. Sorry for the horrid photo.
I also worked on this shawl when the black yarn became more than my eyes could handle.
I like the pattern, Fast and Easy Shawl by Allison Hyde but I am not in love with this yarn. It is prettier in person than in the photo – lucky thing, huh?
The socks have to be finished this week for my hubby’s birthday. After that, I have to start (and complete) three graduation gifts and then I can cast on guilt free for a sweater that I have been itching to knit. I plan to knit mine in a white rather than orange.
HI Just wanted to let you know that I knit up the Emerald Lace towel and cloth set for my secret sister at church. She and her dh just purchased a house ,so I thought it would make a nice homewarming gift. I should have taken pics but forgot.
I used Sugar and Cream’s By the Sea which is a varigated blues and ecru/beige. Gorgeous colors. I did the handtowel and one cloth adn then did a matching cloth in blue. Her fav color is blue, so I hope she likes them.
Thank you for the wonderful pattern.I’ve loved it since I first saw it and wanted to make them. The pattern was easy no mistakes.

I love those hand made cards the little ones give.
I found a note not long ago composed by one of my daughters when she was a wee one. She had swallowed her tooth so I had her dictate a note to the tooth fairy (which I wrote word for word). It was just too cute and on the bottom she drew a picture of her lost tooth for the fairy.
