I have been knitting furiously lately since I have had a winter cold and don’t feel like doing anything else. Here is what I have gotten off the needles this week.

First off the needles was a second Calorimetry. I had to make a second one since Preteena claimed the first one.

Next, I got Soliel off the needles. This was a really fun knit. I am very happy with the fit. Suzy doesn’t have the same curves that I do so the fit is not as flattering on her. I added a crocheted shell border to the neckline – I was shocked that I could remember how to crochet.

I also knitted some face cloths for the kids for Valentine’s Day. Let you think that is a horrid gift, I have been wearing out the washer keeping the last face cloths that I knitted washed. They were ecstatic. Happier about the cloths than the chocolate.

The first pattern is from the Monthly Dishcloths KAL. I can’t make up my mind which side of the cloth I like better. The color is a little wonky. My camera doesn’t like reds

The second cloth is my own pattern. It started out as a simple border and I decided that textured stitch set off the variegated colors nicely. I really liked the way it broke up the pooling that typically happens with this yarn. And the texture will provide Preteena with that touch of exfoliation that her oily skin needs. For SmallFry it will just make extra bubbles when he gets carried away with the soap.

Since I am now thoroughly chocolated, I will share this pattern with you too. Like the Easy Hunting Scarf pattern, it is incredibly simple. But simple isn’t always a bad thing. I used a slightly larger needle than recommended for the yarn. This makes a cloth that dries a bit faster. If you prefer a tighter gauge cloth go down one size. It would also make a great dishcloth.

Simplicity Spa Cloth

Supplies:

• One ball 100% cotton worsted weight yarn
• Size 8 (5.0mm)knitting needle
• Tapestry needle

Cast on 40 stitches.
Row 1: *K1 P1* repeat *to* to the end of the row.
Row 2: *P1 K1* repeat *to* to the end of the row.
Repeat these two rows until you have completed 60 rows or you have reached desired length.
Bind off and weave ends.
Run a bubble bath (or a sink of dish water) and enjoy your new spa cloth.
